The lawyer for Mickaëlle Paty, sister of the professor murdered by a terrorist in October 2020, points to the responsibility of the city of Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, against which she files an administrative appeal.
The trial of the terrorist assassination of her brother was a trigger for Mickaëlle Paty. In light of the debates which took place before the specially formed assize court, Samuel Paty's sister was convinced that “the town hall of Conflans-Sainte-Honorine had failed in its legal security obligations on its territory”, writes his lawyer, Me Carine Chaix, in a press release.
According to her, the mayor of the city was well and truly aware of the danger and the threats weighing on the Collège du Bois d'Aulne and on Samuel Paty. However, he “deliberately refused to mobilize his municipal police to prevent the very real risks of incidents and attacks”, denounces Mickaëlle Paty's lawyer who announces having filed an administrative appeal for liability on December 27, a week after the verdict.
What Samuel Paty's sister criticizes the town hall
In detail, the sister of the murdered teacher emphasizes that an elected official had suggested to Laurent Brosse, mayor (DVD) of Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, to “have Samuel Paty escorted during his journey from home to college, while the death threats against the latter are dissipating”, which the elected official refused.
By not mobilizing his municipal police around the establishment either, the mayor is accused of having “facilitated the perpetuation of the terrorist assassination against Samuel Paty and deprived the latter of a chance to escape it”. denounces Mickaëlle Paty's lawyer.
The professor's sister is now waiting for administrative justice to follow up on her appeal and for a hearing to be scheduled. Requested by RMC, the town hall of Conflans-Sainte-Honorine does not wish to react for the moment.
