The Financial Pool brings down Mahmadane Sarr for 14 billion

According to L’Observateur, the famous luxury car rental company, Mahmadane Sarr, was placed under arrest warrant by order of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Financial Judicial Pool (PJF), which is investigating a car rental invoice to the State, estimated more than 14 billion FCFA.

Mahmadane Sarr, known for his luxury vehicle rental services, has been incarcerated since yesterday, Tuesday. The investigating judge of the PJF Prosecutor’s Office accuses him of having collected more than 14 billion FCFA between 2020 and 2023, within the framework of rental contracts with the State. According to the investigation, he billed Macky Sall’s regime on average 2 billion FCFA per year to provide luxury vehicles.

Recently heard by the Criminal Investigation Division (DIC), Mahmadane Sarr presented documents detailing the cars supplied, including prestigious models such as Toyota, Mercedes, BMW and Nissan Patrol, before being provisionally released. However, despite his explanations and the supporting documents produced, he did not convince the panel of investigating judges of the PJF.

During the last presidential campaign, won by President Diomaye Faye, several officials of the old regime used his vehicles to campaign. However, the businessman was unable to justify invoices considered exorbitant.

According to L’Observateur, Mahmadane Sarr had recently received a colossal debt of several billion FCFA shortly before the end of the mandate of former President Macky Sall, on the presumed order of the former Minister of Finance.
