During a session in the Assembly Committee, Monday January 13, Mayotte MP Estelle Youssouffa attacked Insoumis MP Aurélien Taché, who denounced the government's questioning of land rights.

It was a hearing which gave rise to an intense skirmish between MP Estelle Youssouffa (LIOT) and Aurélien Taché (LFI), reports Le Figaro. Monday January 13, while the Minister of Overseas Territories, Manuel Valls, was heard in the Economic Affairs Committee on the emergency bill for Mayotte, the Insoumis deputy took the opportunity to point the finger at the government for its “double standard policy”.

He also criticized the questioning of land rights on the island, targeting Comorians, while electricity has not yet been restored and many residents are still without shelter or water.

“Words fail me”

“You thus accept that children do not have the same rights depending on where they are born in the French Republic”denounces the left-wing MP. A point to which the member for Mayotte did not fail to respond: “Words fail me because it is so far above ground that in Mayotte we can no longer hear you.”

Estelle Youssouffa also criticized a speech “which fuels foreign interference”she insisted. Indeed, according to the latter, the Comorian government is using its own population to claim French territory.
