Snapdragon 8s Elite: here is the performance of Qualcomm’s next chip

In a recent leak relayed by popular tipster Digital Chat Station, new details about Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8s Elite SoC have been revealed, offering an interesting look at what could be one of the most anticipated mobile chips of 2025.

Successor to the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, this new chip is positioned as a more affordable alternative to the high-end Snapdragon 8 Elite, while promising impressive performance. According to the leaked information, the chip should reach around 2 million points on the AnTuTu benchmarkthus placing it in a strategic intermediate position: superior to certain devices equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, but eAbout 20% below the performance of phones with the Snapdragon 8 Elite.

In terms of architecture, unlike its big brother the Snapdragon 8 Elite, this version would not have the new Oryon cores. But we will find them in the next Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2. It would rather rely on a more conventional configuration with a Cortex-X4 main core and A720 cores, similar to that of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

The maximum frequency of the main core is expected to reach 3.21 GHz. It would be accompanied by an Adreno 825 GPU for the graphics part.

Which smartphones will use the new Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip?

Adoption of this chip already looks promising, with several major manufacturers preparing devices incorporating it. Xiaomi, Honor, iQOO and OPPO are among the manufacturers currently developing smartphones equipped with the Snapdragon 8s Elite.

The first launches are planned for April 2025, suggesting an official presentation by Qualcomm in the coming weeks.

Benchmark performance seems encouraging, with Geekbench scores of 1,967 points in single-core and 5,827 points in multi-core, recorded on a supposed iQOO Z10 Turbo. These figures clearly position the chip as an attractive option for manufacturers seeking to offer high-end devices at more accessible prices.

Among the expected models are the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro, Poco F7, Xiaomi Civi 5 Pro and Motorola Razr 60 Ultrabut it remains to be seen whether other smartphones will also be eligible.
