As in 2022, as in 2023, Granit Xhaka was logically named best player in his country, during the Swiss Night, which took place Monday evening at the Casino de Berne. The 32-year-old from Basel has had a memorable year, taking the Swiss team to the quarter-finals of Euro 2024 and his club Bayer Leverkusen to the first German championship title in its history. He also won the German Cup and Super Cup, in addition to losing the Europa League final against Atalanta Bergamo (3-0).

The prize for best young Swiss footballer went to Ardon Jashari (22 years old). The one that many imagine as the worthy successor to where he is already an essential holder. The best player in the Challenge League is Valon Fazliu (28 years old/FC Aarau).

At domestic level, the Super League Player of the Year went to Renato Steffen. The Lugano winger has had a full year at club. His Ticino team finished 2nd in the elite last season and is now leader of the standings. The international with 41 caps (4 goals) also helped his team to have a great European campaign, placing 6th in the Conference League group stage. Steffen has scored 26 times and provided 19 assists since arriving in Ticino in August 2022.

Alvyn Sanches (LS) not even nominated, Derek Kutesa (SFC) beaten, the “honor” of Romandie was saved by Naomi Luyet. The 19-year-old Valaisanne was the only French-speaking player to find favor in the eyes of the voters: coaches, sports directors and captains of the various Swiss clubs, journalists and the public. The international striker, who plays for Young Boys, even scored twice. The striker won the awards for best young Swiss player and best player in the Super League.

The prize for best Swiss was won by Nidwalden Géraldine Reuteler (Eintracht Frankfurt).
