An accident in the heart of Strasbourg. An investigation opened to determine the causes of the accident
The accident occurred on Saturday afternoon in the tunnel leading to the stop serving Strasbourg central station. “There was a brutal collision between two trams, on the platform, under the station”explained the mayor of Strasbourg, Jeanne Barseghian, during a press briefing late in the afternoon. The elected official mentioned and “frontal impact following a reversing of a tram”. “Today, we do not know what caused this backward movement of the tram”she tempered, calling for caution.
The director of the CTS transport company, Emmanuel Auneau, clarified that he was “much too early” to establish precisely the circumstances of the accident. “The drivers need to be able to explain to us” the maneuvers which caused this collision, he added.
