The New York authorities on Monday strengthened the security system in “main locations” of the American metropolis following the attack on Wednesday in New Orleans (Southern United States).
“As a precaution, we have increased security and police presence at key locations, including Trump Tower and Times Square”, announced the city’s mayor, Eric Adams.

A driver, identified as Shamsud-Din Bahar Jabbar, crashed into a crowd gathered in New Orleans, Louisiana, to celebrate the New Year, killing at least 15 people and injuring more than 30 others.

The suspect, a 42-year-old former soldier from Texas, was shot dead during an exchange of fire with police.
This is a “act of terrorism”, indicated the federal police (FBI), noting that a flag of the extremist group “ Islamic State » was found in the vehicle used in the attack.
In a brief video message, US President Joe Biden said the attacker was “inspired” by the Daesh terrorist group.
According to the press, the suspect had spent nearly eight years in the American army, and was deployed to Afghanistan.
