2025 marks the end of a long series. For the first time in five years, the first newborn of the year in the canton of Vaud is not a little girl, but a little boy. After Stella in 2021, Lilia in 2022, Naomie in 2023 and Vega last yearNolan was born on 1is January 2025 at 12:26 a.m. the Riviera-Chablais Intercantonal Hospital in Rennaz. Another notable fact in maternity hospital news shortly after New Year: this first baby on Vaud soil is from Valais. On January 2, Nolan had already returned to his family home in Massongex (VS).

“The family is growing”

The parents are happy. “Everything went very well,” the mother, Christelle, told us a few hours after the birth. She claims, despite the fatigue, to have recovered quickly and to be in great shape. “The family is growing,” rejoices the father, Yannick, who attended the birth. The family already welcomed their first boy eighteen months ago. The parents had to be a little patient with Nolan. The deadline being set for December 26, the child (4 kilos and 54 cm at birth) actually took a few days before deciding.

The Yverdon-les-Bains establishment and the Cecil Clinic, however, were still waiting on January 2. More than 8,000 children are born each year in the canton, according to the State of Vaud.
