The suspect in the vehicle-ramming attack in New Orleans, which left at least 10 dead and 35 injured on New Year’s Eve, did not act alone, the FBI said Wednesday during a conference press.

“We are vigorously pursuing all leads to identify potential accomplices” of the suspect, said Alethea Duncan, FBI agent.
“We do not believe that Jabbar was the only one responsible,” she said, regarding Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a 42-year-old American citizen, suspected by the American federal police of having driven into the crowd with his pick-up.
“The FBI is seeking the public’s assistance,” Ms. Duncan continued. “We are asking anyone who has had any interaction with Shamsud-Din Jabbar in the last 72 hours to contact us,” she added.
-During the same press conference, Alethea Duncan also announced that two homemade explosive devices had been found and defused by police.
On the night of New Year’s Eve, an American, a former soldier according to the FBI, in possession of a flag of the Islamic State group, rushed his car into the crowd gathered in the “Vieux Carré”, a very touristy French quarter of this city in the southern United States.
This attack, which the FBI considers a possible “terrorist act”, comes less than three weeks before the transfer of power between Democratic President Joe Biden and his elected Republican successor Donald Trump, in an electric political climate.
