Another historic establishment which is dying out in Lausanne (VD): the famous Olivier François Ausoni store will close its doors on March 25 at Place Saint-François, where it has been for 70 years.

This decision was taken when renewing the lease with the owner of the premises, after numerous discussions and proposals, explains Ausoni in a press release. No one knows, at this stage, what will become of the store's premises or what will become of the luxury establishment's employees.

The century-old boutique in Villars-sur-Ollon will remain, as will La Griffe Ausoni, an independent company which belongs to another branch of the family.

Among our colleagues from “24 Heures”, Claude Jutzi, president of the Bourg-Saint-François neighborhood association, expresses his bitterness, listing according to him what is increasingly dysfunctional in Lausanne: rents often revised upwards then that business is declining in the Vaud capital, excessive and endless work in the city, a “totally deficient” station and a city center lacking sufficient parking spaces in a reasonable travel time.
