A house is architecture, living spaces, light and an exterior environment. But it is also, very often, an atmosphere, a warm atmosphere. It is this attraction that Fortin and Emmanuel Côté are offering by selling their second home in Austin, in Estrie. An elegant and classic property, nestled in the heart of a forest, a stone's throw from Lake Memphremagog.

“We often rented chalets in this corner of Estrie which we loved very much because of the proximity of the lake, a golf course and the ski slopes,” says Nancy Fortin, whose sister built her house right next door. side of his. “Otherwise, the other houses are a good distance from ours,” she adds.

You couldn't find a more peaceful and natural place to have a good time. A drone flight allows you to realize the beauty of this Estrian landscape, with trees as far as the eye can see and the majesty of Lake Memphremagog. The house built at 5, chemin du Grand-Pic is surrounded by vegetation, the lake being 800 meters away on foot. “It takes 8 to 10 minutes to get to the beach and the marina of the Yacht-Club St-Benoît,” says Mr. Côté, who adds that there is enough space on the land for future owners have an in-ground swimming pool.

The couple was very involved in the construction of the house – Mr. Côté owns his own business in the area – located two hours from L'Île-Bizard, where he lives. Its concrete foundation, its stone, wood and acrylic facade and its asphalt shingle roof give the residence a “European look,” according to Mr. Côté. With its 14 rooms, including 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, and nine-foot-high ceilings, the house with an area of 2,200 sq. ft.2 is very bright inside. There are windows and bay windows everywhere, even in the bathrooms. It's not really a house where you can hang a lot of art!

“There are only two walls in the rooms to hang pictures!” », says Emmanuel Côté. On the other hand, there are plenty of storage spaces, particularly in the entrance where a long hall, immaculate white, lines up a succession of large cupboards as well as a type wardrobe. walk-in.

The master bedroom has a bathroom with a large, simple and elegant Italian shower. There are two other bedrooms, including the couple's daughter's bedroom, which is slightly larger (approximately 15 x 17 feet). The floors are oak throughout, except in the bathrooms and in a small space in the kitchen where we opted for ceramic.

The heating is electric, a wood fireplace, in the living room, allowing you to add a little heat during the winter. The kitchen is very functional, with a double refrigerator and a 12-foot solid oak central island for cooking and having an aperitif! The induction cooker is strategically placed near a huge window overlooking the woods. “In winter, I often see deer when I cook,” says Nancy Fortin.

The living-dining room open to nature

The kitchen open to the living room and the dining room creates a very soft, pleasant space, with a beautiful atmosphere.

It's actually a very relaxing house, it's very warm. The lighting also has something to do with it. It gives a warm atmosphere.

The conviviality of the place is illustrated by the way the owners have connected the interior of their house to the exterior. The terrace is accessible from three rooms: the living room, the dining room and the master bedroom, thanks to folding patio doors. One of the openings is 20 feet wide, helping to brighten the interior with bright light at all times. During the summer, the residence takes its outdoor space, with a large covered reception area, equipped with a wood fireplace, very useful on cool evenings. “It’s a house where, in the summer, you have the impression of always being outside,” remarks Emmanuel Côté.

“We really had a good time at this property,” says M.me Fortin, who enjoyed it as a second home with her partner and daughter for a total of two years. We will have very good memories of it. We have other plans, so we won't regret it, but we loved this life spent especially outside when we came to Austin. We had a lot of fun getting together there and enjoying the summer by opening all the patio doors. » “Yes, we took advantage of it,” adds Mr. Côté. Especially when my daughter's friends and cousins came to spend time there. It was lively! »
