The least we can say is that the leadership of Projet Montréal is coveted. A sixth candidate, councilor Ericka Alneus, joins the race, to take over from Valérie Plante.

Ericka Alneus is responsible for culture and heritage on the executive committee of the City of Montreal, in addition to being a borough councilor in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie. Elected in 2021, she is in her first term.
Originally from the Eastern Townships of Haitian parents, the new candidate has worked for more than ten years in the community sector. She was notably a philanthropic development advisor for the organization Pour 3 Points, and a development agent in a Carrefour jeunesse emploi. She obtained a bachelor's degree in political science from Concordia University, as well as a certificate in philanthropic management from the University of Montreal.
Ericka Alneus added her name to the register of candidates for the leadership of Élections Québec this Thursday. Unlike its competitors, it has still not organized an event to launch its campaign. This would have to wait until after the holiday break. Other candidates could be added to the race by the deadline, set for January 31.
The race will officially begin on February 3 and end on March 15. Municipal elections will then be held on November 2. In addition to Ericka Alneus, Guedwig Bernier, Luc Rabouin, Gracia Kasoki Katahwa, Maja Vodanovic and Laurence Lavigne Lalonde covet the head of Projet Montréal.
To be eligible for the race, candidates must raise $7,500 in donations to the party, in addition to collecting a minimum of 200 signatures from members, in at least 7 boroughs.
For its part, the opposition at city hall, Ensemble Montréal, postponed its race to “give more time” to those interested in coming forward. We still don't know when it will be held.
At the beginning of November, the party rejected the only leadership candidate who has come forward so far, Younes El Moustir, a real estate broker who regularly comments on current affairs at QUB Radio.
