Laeticia contacted us via the orange button Alert us to recount the misadventure she experienced this Sunday on board a flight to Egypt.
“The plane took off at 1:20 p.m. this Sunday and shortly after, the right wing was struck by lightning“, says Laeticia who witnessed the scene. There was no panic on board, our interlocutor emphasizes: “Nothing happened. We continued to fly normally.”
However, the aircraft was forced to make a U-turn over Germany as a safety measure. Thus, after a little less than an hour of flight, the plane whose initial route was Brussels – Hurghada (Egypt) landed in Zaventem.
“We were dropped off at the airport with a €10 meal voucher and around 5 p.m., we learned that we were going to be rehoused so that we could perhaps take a plane again tomorrow.” continued Laetitia.
The plane will be checked
Sarah Saucin, spokesperson for TUI which operated, confirms the information and explains: “After being struck by lightning, our plane needs to be checked and possibly repaired.“She affirms that the passengers are rehoused this Sunday evening before a new departure”tomorrow” (Monday).
“We hope because we really want to leave“, concludes Laeticia.
