A day dedicated to cleaning the beaches of Pointe Séréne was organized by the Society for the Development, Promotion of Coasts and Tourist Zones of Senegal (SAPCO), in collaboration with the Rhiu Baobab hotel. This initiative, which took place last Saturday, was reported by Sud Quotidien.
According to Serigne Modou Mboup, general director of SAPCO, the objective is to make the beaches more attractive to improve Senegal's tourist image. “This day was organized with the aim of making our beaches beautiful and clean, in order to make the Senegal destination much more attractive,” he said, reported by Sud Quotidien.
Many participants, including residents and youth associations from Pointe Séréne, took part in this initiative. Serigne Modou Mboup stressed that the commitment to a healthy environment is central to SAPCO policy. “The environment is at the heart of SAPCO’s objectives and policies,” he added. He expressed his satisfaction with the mobilization of local populations.
The sub-prefect of the Sindia district, Elhadj Djiby Bocoum, welcomed this activity which he considers to be a real human investment. He expressed the State's determination to achieve the goal of “zero waste” on the country's beaches, thereby strengthening their welcome for visitors.
