The two brothers are being prosecuted for the explosion of two homemade bombs which created a stir in Geneva. In August, a man in his forties, an employee of Patek Philippe, was injured in the leg when a bag left on the landing of his apartment on rue Saint-Jean exploded.
A few months later, in November, an explosion in a mailbox in the Grange-Canal district seriously injured the 12-year-old daughter of another employee of the watch company. The Federal Public Prosecutor's Office and Fedpol had estimated that there could be a link between the two.
Ransom demands
But the matter is even more mysterious. In today's edition, the Tribune de Genève reveals that the two brothers are also accused of having demanded millions of francs in letters sent to Migros Zurich and Migros Geneva.
Ransom demands were also made several times to Patek Philippe.
The Federal Public Prosecutor's Office is prosecuting the two brothers, one an IT specialist, the other a driver, for attempted extortion, blackmail, attempted murder, endangering the lives of others and using explosives
Heavy accusations, but entirely contested by the defendants. The lawyer for one of the brothers, Me Vincent Spira, told RTS to be “disappointed” and maintains that his client is innocent. According to him, this court decision aims above all to reassure, this case having generated a certain fear among the population.
