Three departments in the west of mainland France, Manche, Ille-et-Vilaine and the Côtes-d'Armor department, have been placed on orange alert for the risk of violent winds, Météo-France announced on Saturday 21 December. This alert will be in effect from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, specifies the organization.

“In a rapid northwesterly flow between a depression named “Enol” located to the west of Norway and a powerful anticyclone located in the North Atlantic, strong gusts will affect the coastal departments of the Channel on Sunday,” warns Météo France.

The meteorological organization adds that “dSunday, the departments of Finistère, and Seine-Maritime will be affected by violent and frequent gusts from the North-West as well.” “At present, a worsening of the level of vigilance for the violent wind parameter is not not excluded for these departments”, he specifies.
