Since it was shared on social networks, the video of an altercation between a bus driver and two young minors on a bus Tisséo in Toulouse, continues to be shared and commented on on social networks. The reactions are divisive.

Altercation on a bus in Toulouse

A little reminder of the facts.

On Friday December 6, 2024, it was between 9 and 10 p.m. when two minors entered a Tisséo bus, at the Barcelona Maréchal-Leclerc stop.

The two young people, one of whom is 14 years old, board the bus without validating their transport ticket. The driver reminds them of the rules. In return, he is “spit on and insulted by young people who are repeat offenders for non-validation on public transport. », indicated Tisséo to Toulouse Newse on December 12.

The insults rain

The bus driver sees red and wants to get rid of the fraudsters who do not comply with the driver’s firm request. The latter grabs one of the young people by the collar and pushes him. The young man falls backwards.

Then one of the young people profusely insults the driver: “I’m going to fuck you… your motherf***”. The insults rained down for several seconds.

The bus driver threatens one of the young people: “I’m not a bus driver every day. The day I meet you, I’ll tear your mouth off… You get out.”

Investigation at Tisséo, the mayor of Toulouse supports the driver

Following the altercation, Tisséo carried out a classic internal investigation for this type of event.

The driver, for his part, received a myriad of support, including that of the mayor of Toulouse, Jean-Luc Moudenc:

“Such behavior on our public transport is not tolerable. Everyone must follow the rules! We must never allow the incivility of a few smart people to pass by. Thanks to the bus driver for allowing the return to order. He has my full support,” assured the chief magistrate of the Pink City.

A petition in support of the driver

His security deputy, Emilion Esnaultdid the same:

“Support for driver Tisséo! Don’t shy away from fraud. Do not shy away from provocation. Order and authority must not give way to political correctness! »

On the internet, a petition in support of the driver has collected thousands of signatures: more than 16,600 as of Thursday, December 19, 2024.

The conclusion of the affair by Tisséo

The same day, the bus driver was received by his employer Tisséo who announced “a one-day layoff”.

For Tisséo, the driver “did not, at any time, insult the two young travelers, nor was he violent towards them”.

One day layoff

Tisséo explains:

“The officer did not follow all protocols in place in this situation. Since the facts, the classic disciplinary procedure towards the agent has therefore been followed. The general management, based on the analysis of the facts, never intended to make a dismissal. The driver admitted to having been clumsy and not having respected the rules.”

Tisséo continues:

“We opted for a one-day dismissal measure for leaving his post and exposing himself to danger.”

A complaint filed for fraud

The joint transport union indicates that a complaint for fraud for repeat offenses has been filed.

The driver, for his part, will intervene in the training process of new drivers “to give them feedback and to explain the reasons why safety protocols must be respected”.

Tisséo salutes the driver’s “courage”

While putting him on foot, Tisséo salutes the “courage and self-sacrifice” of his driver.
