Italy far behind the best
In the prolonged absence of Lisa Vittozzi and despite the efforts of Dorothea Wierer, the new generation of Italian biathlon did not meet expectations on the first two World Cup stages.
Aside from Wierer, no Italian woman is among the top 25 overall in the World Cup, the same thing among the men with only Tommaso Giacomel, ranked 15th.
As a direct consequence, Beatrice Trabucchi and Rebecca Passler are excluded for Grand Bornand, just like Elia Zeni and Patrick Braunhofer, and Italy will show up for Grand Bornand without filling its quotas!
Only one year before the Milan Cortina Olympics, our Transalpine neighbors have something to worry about.
