The minimum premium deductible could increase. The National supported on Monday by 114 votes to 75 a motion by Diana Gutjahr (UDC/TG) requesting adaptation to changes in health costs. The Council of States adopted a similar motion in September.
The last increase in the minimum health insurance deductible dates back to 20 years ago, recalled the mover. Costs have since risen sharply. It is therefore justified to adapt the franchise, according to her.
This will especially affect the chronically ill, the poor, the elderly and vulnerable, denounced Barbara Gysi (PS/SG). And to add that today already 15% of people do not go to the doctor or go too late for reasons of cost.
The Federal Council is “cautiously open” to increasing the deductible, indicated Health Minister Élisabeth Baume-Schneider. She stressed that it is important that the increases are “reasonable.”
The Council of States has yet to decide.
