The AZ Rivierenland hospital center plans to recruit a menopause counselor for its staff. “We are the first hospital in Flanders to do this,” emphasized AZ Rivierenland in a press release published on Monday.
The well-being of female employees suffering from menopause-related disorders is increasingly on the agenda of authorities and companies. The symptoms impact “daily life but also productivity”, and sometimes lead to “long-term sick leave”, indicates the hospital center.
The AZ Rivierenland framework project, entitled “Back on board”, also aims to raise awareness and inform male colleagues as well as managers about menopause. “This will be done through workshops and information sessions which will allow discussion on the subject.”
