During this council, which was held with the participation of the Director General of MAP, Mr. Fouad Arif, and members of the Council, the budget and action plan of the Agency for the 2025 financial year as well as moral and financial reports for the year 2023.
Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Bensaid stressed that the meeting of the MAP Board of Directors is an opportunity to examine the various challenges facing the Agency, which is celebrating its 65th anniversary this year, noting that the Agency has has been able, since its creation, to support the major stages of the contemporary history of Morocco, by working to develop the national media scene and to consolidate diversity and plurality.
The Agency still remains an essential pillar for the consolidation of the Kingdom’s media sovereignty and a major strategic player in national media diplomacy, he added, noting that the MAP, a strategic national media establishment, plays a fundamental role in the defense of the sacred values and superior interests of the country and the promotion of the advances made by Morocco in different areas, under the enlightened leadership of HM King Mohammed VI.
Faced with the profound changes that the media scene is experiencing at regional, continental and international levels, said the minister, MAP has succeeded, under its new governance and with the support of all its staff, in meeting the strategic challenges for establish itself as a modern institution capable of adapting to the profound changes that the sector is experiencing.
In this regard, Mr. Bensaid praised the tireless efforts made by the Agency to strengthen its role as a provider of information, while exploring renewed horizons such as the integration of new telecommunications technologies and the strengthening of networks. international correspondents, reaffirming the constant commitment of his department to accompany and support the MAP in its strategic missions.
For his part, Mr. Arif indicated that with the aim of consolidating the role of the Maghreb Arab Press Agency, faithful to its vocation as a wholesaler of information on a national scale and that of a depository, alongside other public service media, national media sovereignty, clear objectives and action plan have been defined.
In this regard, he cited the overhaul of the Agency’s services, the consolidation of its role as an information wholesaler, the overhaul of the international network of offices to respond to the strategic orientations of the Kingdom, the audiovisual transformation, the strengthening of human capital and digital transformation.
Building on this assessment, the general management of the MAP led a consultation process, in order to develop a strategy which will reflect this vision in a more complete manner, around four major axes, namely “Impactful Content and Leadership International”, a “Dynamic Human Capital and Business Growth”, a “Digital Revolution” and “Agile Governance and Strategic Excellence”, noted Mr. Arif.
For his part, the Secretary General of the MAP, Mr. Karim Hosni, presented the 2023 financial report, the budget and the action plan for the 2025 financial year, while presenting exhaustive statistics on the production of the Agency (dispatches, MAP TV-MAP audio, Photography and Infographics).
He also recalled that MAP has concluded cooperation agreements with seven African and European press agencies, the Directorate of Royal Archives and two institutes (King Fahd Higher School of Translation and ISIC) as well as with the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency.
