Mr. Diallo, a dismissed BOA bank agent in Mboro (north-west), tried to take revenge. He formed a gang to attack the financial institution. Arrested thanks to surveillance videos, Mr. Diallo and his alleged accomplices were tried by the Thiès criminal chamber for attempted burglary.
Prosecuted for “criminal association, attempted gang robbery committed with the use of weapons and violence”, Mr. Diallo and his alleged accomplices will be determined on their fate on December 23. During the hearing, the prosecutor requested 15 years of criminal imprisonment for the defendants.
The Observers returned to the events which took place in January 2020 at the BOA bank in Mboro. Fired from this structure where he worked for several months, Mr. Diallo could not handle this dismissal. Faced with this situation which he considers unfair and which has turned his life upside down, Mr. Diallo concocted a burglary plan to attack this bank.
After putting a plan in place, the criminals left Dakar one Friday evening in January 2020 to go to Mboro. Arriving in Tivaouane, they were blocked by the curfew which forced them to spend the night in this town. The next day, Saturday, Mr. Diallo and his gang set off again to reach the targeted bank.
Arriving on the scene at 11 a.m., they attacked the financial institution in broad daylight. Pushed back by security agents, they fled before the arrival of gendarmes.
