The Christmas markets are enjoying growing success in Delémont and Porrentruy. The two events held this weekend in the region recorded an increase in attendance compared to recent editions. In the Jura capital, the number of visitors is estimated at 6,000, or 1,000 more than last year, according to Romain Bürki, head of organization for the Union of Delémont traders. If Saturday was calmer due to the rain, Sunday attracted a lot of people. The new layout with a space dedicated to catering also appealed to the public and artisans according to Romain Bürki.
In Porrentruy, Saturday also saw fewer visitors than Sunday, which worked particularly well. Between 3,000 and 4,000 people made the trip, according to Sébastien Jubin, interim president of this event organized by the Local Commerce Union of Ajoie and Clos du Doubs. The manager adds that traders are also satisfied with the business carried out during the weekend.
The two Christmas markets will be back next year and could expand further. /alr
