Against the flu, the Argentan hospital requires the wearing of a mask during visits

The Argentan hospital (Orne) is protecting itself. As of Monday December 16, 2024the wearing a mask is again “mandatory during room visits and treatment” according to a hospital press release.

“Epidemic phase” of influenza in Normandy

This precaution was taken because “according to recent data collected by Santé Publique France, Normandy officially crossed the threshold of the epidemic phase for influenza at the beginning of December”.

This measure aims to protect vulnerable patients from any contamination and limit the spread of the virus in health establishments.

From now on, “visits are authorized from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.” but they will be “prohibited for children who cannot wear a mask”. For maternity, “visits are limited to four people in the rooms”, while “for pediatrics, only visits from parents, or legal representatives, are authorized”.

Obligation for healthcare professionals

The obligation to wear a mask concerns visitors but also healthcare professionals. On the other hand, wearing a mask will “not be required in other situations, such as outpatient consultations, circulation in the establishment, emergencies, etc. Unless an individual presents symptoms suggestive of the flu”.

The establishment would like to remind you of the barrier gestures and recommends “hand washing with soap and the use of hydroalcoholic gel”.
