“Everybody Loves Touda” at the cinema, the children’s book fair in Casa, Oum Kalthoum “returns” to Morocco… the releases of the week – Telquel.ma

Touda’s voice

Movie theater. After a preview at the 21st edition of the Marrakech International Film Festival, Nabil Ayouch’s latest film, Everybody loves Toudaarrives in Moroccan cinemas. Actress Nisrin Erradi, whose performance in the role of Touda is acclaimed, plays a young woman who dreams of becoming a chikha, and must face the way society views these women.

His dream: to join Casablanca and, above all, to succeed in order to guarantee a better life for his son. The film, which is intended above all to be a poignant tribute to the beauty of the art of the aïta, is currently in the race for the Oscars, a competition for which it managed to qualify in all the major categories – a first for the Morocco -, including best director and best actress for Nisrin Erradi.

While waiting for the revelation of the Oscar shortlist, scheduled for December 17, the character of Touda and her world of songs and dances can be found in theaters.

Youth reading. The second edition of the International Youth Publishing and Book Fair (SILEJ) is being held again in Casablanca, after a first edition in November 2023. In addition to publishers, authors and young readers, the fair also welcomes a large number of graphic novel or comic book illustrators.

In total, 29 countries will be represented and more than 340 publishing houses, with the Wallonia-Brussels region (Belgium) as guest of honor. Organized by the Ministry of Culture, and designed as the youth counterpart of SIEL which is now held in Rabat, SILEJ aims to bring young people closer to reading, and is part of cultural policies dedicated to youth.

Eternal Diva

Concert. The hologram of Oum Kalthoum is making its comeback on Moroccan stages, after having achieved great success during the Mawazine Festival, with a unique technological experience that brings the legendary Egyptian diva back to life.

Technology makes it possible to recreate with remarkable precision the smallest details of her stage presence: her captivating voice, her emblematic gestures and her extraordinary charisma which made her the greatest Arab singer of all time. A project that transcends time and perpetuates the memory of an artist who continues to inspire millions of fans around the world.

Laugh without filter

Humour. The actor Redouane Bougheraba returns to Morocco with two dates, always equipped with his biting humor, of which his audience is the first to pay the price. Master of improvisation, he brought together more than half a million spectators around the world with his show They call me : an ascent that he recounts with impertinence in 1h de stand up. December 13 and 14 at the Studio des Arts Vivants (Casablanca) and Meydane (Marrakech).

Small formats, big emotions

Exposition. Gallery Kent invites art lovers to discover “Fragments of Painting”, a collective exhibition which celebrates contemporary Moroccan creation. This initiative offers a dialogue between artists and spectators. Nine artists with varied styles and approaches present pieces that showcase the full diversity of the contemporary art scene.
