In Al Hoceïma, the Italian Ecoprogetti completes the extension of a photovoltaic panel production line, which now has a capacity of 1 GW

Italy has completed the expansion of a major solar panel production line, which began in July.

The Italian company Ecoprogetti announced on Monday, December 2, that it had completed the extension of a photovoltaic panel production line in Morocco. The plant, located in the city of Al Hoceïma, in the north of the country, is operated by Almaden Morocco and now has a capacity of 1 GW, compared to 500 MW previously. It is the largest solar module manufacturing factory in Morocco and North Africa.

The new line uses technology based on half-cut tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) G12 18BB cells, in a system designed to ensure maximum efficiency and superior quality of glass-to-glass modules. Ecoprogetti indicated in its press release, which Barlamane.com consulted, that Almaden Morocco will produce high-efficiency modules for African and global markets.

The expansion of the photovoltaic production line began in July. Ecoprogetti has been collaborating with Almaden Morocco since 2018, when the first 500 MW line was delivered.
