Has the race for productivity dehumanized the social network LinkedIn? A recent study indicates that the majority of posts are no longer written by humans.
Last September, a controversy shook the social network LinkedIn, accused of using its users’ data to train its generative AI models. If the GDPR has made it possible to block and protect the data of French users, another situation alerts the network: according to a study by the organization Originality.ai, specializing in the detection of text written by AI, the majority of posts on the network would now be written by artificial intelligence. A situation which questions the authenticity of the network.
A robotic network
On LinkedIn, some users have already suffered from a feeling of déjà vu when reading certain posts, even questioning their humanity. A reflection that seems to be shared by the company Originality.ai which carried out a study by analyzing with its engine nearly 8,795 publications posted on the social network from January 2018 to October 2024.
We learn that before the release of ChatGPT in 2022, the use of AI by users was at the margin before showing an increase in 189 % from January to February 2023. Today, it would be close to 54% posts on LinkedIn that could be generated by AI.
Despite a lack of originality linked to AI generation, the trend seems set to take hold. Last September, Les Echos published a survey on its LinkedIn page in which we learned, for example, that 6% of respondents delegate the writing of their posts entirely to an AI and 55% say at least they use it to write them.
