The Takku Wallu Senegal coalition, headed by President Macky Sall, won 16 seats in the National Assembly. While rumors about President Sall’s withdrawal from Senegalese politics are gaining momentum, a close friend of the former president, who gave an interview to the newspaper L’Observateur, brushed aside this information. However, he specifies that the President will not sit in the National Assembly.
“The President will soon announce his withdrawal from the Senegalese political scene”this senior official of the Alliance for the Republic (Apr), who has held ministerial positions several times, told L’Observateur, reports IGFM.

Information that another close friend of President Sall refuted. “Macky Sall is leaving the political scene for good? It’s unlikely. He is a former President of Senegal, founder of a still influential party, with a large activist base.declared a loyalist of the founder of the APR to the newspaper L’Obs.
He adds that Macky Sall will not be present in the National Assembly for the 15th legislature. The head of the national list of the Takku-Wallu coalition, which obtained sixteen seats in the legislative elections of November 17, will resign to give his place to Abdou Mbow.

“I spoke to him twice today (yesterday Tuesday), and I swear to you that there was never any question of leaving or permanently withdrawing from political life. At most, we can say that the President will take a step back, that he will take a break to better concentrate on his international agenda. He has just left Qatar, where he was at a conference, and he has many obligations to honor around the world. The only obvious thing I can confirm is that he will not sit in the National Assembly. He resigned to give way to Abdou Mbow, who has a lot of merit and parliamentary experience that our coalition needs to lead the debates in the hemicycle. »
