The news, first reported by the specialist site 3DownNation, was confirmed by the club late Wednesday morning.

Also according to 3DownNation, Alexander will receive a signing bonus of $120,000 as well as a salary of $258,000 for the first season of the agreement. Including performance bonuses, this figure could rise to $336,000. For the 2026 and 2027 seasons, the young center could obtain a maximum amount of $406,000 and $456,000 respectively.

“At only 26 years old, Davis is the future of this franchise. This season he was called upon to play crucial matches with us and he responded very well with Olympian calm. He’s been learning with Cody Fajardo for two years and he’s ready to take it to the next level. We now entrust him with the reins of the team and we have full confidence in him,” said Als general manager Danny Maciocia in a press release.

Alexander and Maciocia will meet with the media Thursday morning to comment further on the news.

During its end-of-season review, Alouettes management indicated that it would have to make a choice between Alexander and Fajardo for the starting quarterback position. The first could become a free agent, while the second still has one season left on the contract.

In front of the media, Fajardo had clearly indicated his intention to stay in Montreal. Now that his colleague is linked to the Als until 2027, we will have to see if the 33-year-old player will agree to restructure his contract to stay in the nest, or if the team will instead choose to trade or release him.

Alexander won his first four career starts during the 2024 season, while Fajardo was injured. In total, the Washington State native completed 105 of his 151 passes (69.5%), and threw six touchdown passes against three interceptions.

He also distinguished himself on the ground by accumulating 166 yards rushing and scoring three touchdowns in the process. He has been part of the Alouettes organization since 2022.
