Kevin De Bruyne didn’t make many friends after the match against France. The Red Devil was notably targeted by an Italian journalist, who did not appreciate the criticism of the midfielder.
Tancredi Palmeri, an Italian journalist who is notably active on CNN, was furious last night. He clearly did not appreciate the response, but especially the criticisms made by Kevin De Bruyne, questioned in the mixed zone after the elimination against France at Euro 2024.
It all starts with a question, asked of De Bruyne. “Why has the Belgian golden generation never reached a final?”asked the journalist. Visibly a little frustrated by this question, the 33-year-old midfielder responded with a comparison. “You say that France, England, Spain and Germany are not golden generations?”said the Belgian, referring to cases where other big teams were unable to go all the way in major tournaments.
As he left, De Bruyne let his anger show with a small “Stupid” captured by the microphones. On X, Tancredi Palmeri then settled his scores with the Red Devil by criticizing him outright. “Ahah, De Bruyne just called me stupid. Hey Kevin, a quick reminder for you: the golden generation you mentioned, namely France, England, Germany and Spain, ALL REACHED A FINAL!”he wrote.
Before attacking the Belgian player head-on, calling him a “typical footballer, who only wants questions that tell him how good he is. He’s a spoiled brat”wrote the Italian, who nevertheless received some criticism for this message. Kevin De Bruyne, for his part, has not reacted since then.
