A serious diplomatic crisis broke out this Monday between Bolivia and Argentina, over the ” Rebellion ” aborted last week against Bolivian President Luis Arce, the veracity of which was contested by Buenos Aires, which speaks of a coup d’état ” fraudulent ».

On Sunday evening, the Argentine presidency issued a statement in which “ The Office of the President (Javier Milei) condemns the false accusation of a coup d’état launched by the Bolivian government on Wednesday, June 26 ” and which he described as ” fraudulent ».

« Thanks to intelligence reports, the Argentine government has remained calm and serene in the face of these events. The story that was spread was not very credible and the arguments did not fit the socio-political context of the Latin American country. ” reads the Argentine presidential statement.

In his first reaction to the accusations of “ fraud “Regarding the episode of the attempted “coup d’état”, the Bolivian government demanded ” the respect ” to his Argentinian counterpart, denouncing “interference” in the internal affairs of this neighboring country.

“We have always maintained a position of respect and we are going to demand the same respect on this issue of interference,” said Bolivia’s vice minister of communications, Gabriela Alcon.

She told Bolivian television that the Foreign Ministry should issue a statement in the coming hours to officially respond to the Argentine statement.

The Bolivian government has faced several similar accusations, including from former Bolivian President Evo Morales.

On Wednesday afternoon, Bolivia was plunged into a climate of high tension after an army unit burst into the presidential palace, under the orders of the former chief of staff, Juan José Zuniga.

A few hours later, President Arce managed to regain control, appointing new army commanders. The coup leader was arrested for rebellion.

At the time of his arrest, Zuniga told the local press that he had simulated the coup, carried out in coordination with Luis Arce in order to boost his popularity.
