The Orchester de la Suisse Romande (OSR) will take over the lawn of Genève-Plage on Thursday August 15 and Sunday August 18 for the 5th edition of its open-air festival. On the program is a film concert, classical and jazz.

The festival will open on Thursday evening at 9:15 pm on the lakeside with the musical “Singin’ in the Rain”, performed as a film concert under the direction of conductor Ernst van Tiel. Since its release in 1952, this cult film has lost none of its glamour thanks to its danceable, brassy music, the OSR notes in a press release.

The festivities will continue on Sunday at 9:15 a.m. with “Summer Serenade”. Saxophonist Valentine Michaud will play under the direction of Italian conductor Giuseppe Mengoli with an eclectic program, ranging from Debussy’s Rhapsody to Milhaud’s Scaramouche, ending with the melancholy tones of Mozart’s 40th.

Finally, at 9:30 pm, the greatest hits of Frank Sinatra performed by singer Matt Dusk will close the festival. This rhythmic tribute to the famous crooner of the 50s will have the audience swinging with “My Funny Valentine” or “New York, New York!”

The Sunday morning concert is offered to Geneva-Plage customers. The other two in the evening are chargeable. Placement is free, directly on the swimming pool lawn or with a folding chair. In the event of cancellation due to weather, tickets will be refunded.
