The draw for the first round of the Swiss Cup, of which this will be the hundredth edition in this 2024/25 season, was made this Monday. These 32nd finals, which will take place on August 16, 17 and 18, already have some great posters in store.

This is how SR Delémont (Promotion League), surprising quarter-finalists last season – the Jura club eliminated St-Gall and Lucerne before being knocked out by Servette – will host FC Sion, newly promoted to the Super League and who reached the semi-finals last spring (elimination 0-2 against Lugano).

On a French-speaking scale, the “clash” between the lakeside neighbours of Bienne (Promotion League) and NE Xamax (Challenge League) will also be worth its weight in emotions. The holder of the Servette trophy (against the 2nd interregional league club of Signal Bernex-Confignon), Lausanne-Sport (in Champel, 2nd league team) and Yverdon (in Dardania Lausanne, 2nd league) were relatively spared by fate.

Among the small ones, the Printse-Nendaz club (2nd league) will have the honor of hosting Young Boys, reigning Swiss champion.
