The authorities have promised to strengthen controls in the city’s butcher shops and to extend these operations to other districts of Casablanca. They also insisted on the need for traders to scrupulously respect health standards and regularly disinfect their premises.

“It’s a shame to endanger people’s health for a few dirhams,” people were outraged on social networks. “This has to stop, we are afraid for our families.” Some traders are demanding exemplary sanctions against their unscrupulous colleagues who tarnish the image of the profession.
