Rabat – The famous Italian actress Monica Bellucci will take part in a conversation around her latest film, the documentary “Maria Callas Monica Bellucci: an encounter” by Greek director Yannis Dimolitsas, which will be presented in section 11e Continent as part of the Marrakech International Film Festival (November 29 to December 7, 2024).
The 11the Continent is a section of the Marrakech Festival which presents daring and innovative films which shake up cinematographic representations, underline the organizers in a press release.
Yannis Dimolitsas’ film is a precious immersion into the life and legacy of Maria Callas, played by Monica Bellucci as an absolute opera diva.
“Through intimate memoirs, moving letters and never-before-seen images, he transports us into the world of Callas, from his humble beginnings in New York to his triumph on world stages. Two distinct eras intersect here: the one when Callas reached the peak of his career and the one today, where his voice continues to captivate,” the press release specifies.
At the heart of this work, an essential dialogue between two women – Callas and Bellucci – who, despite different paths, come together in their devotion to art. This encounter between past and present reveals the human soul behind the legend and celebrates an artist who transformed her pain into timeless beauty.
The screening of the film is planned at the Auditorium of the Yves Saint Laurent Museum, on 1is December at 5 p.m. in the presence of director Yannis Dimolitsas, and will be followed by a conversation with Monica Bellucci about the film.
