Paul vs Tyson: the numbers that reveal the deception

Saturday morning (in Switzerland), Jake Paul (27 years old) beat Mike Tyson (58 years old) at the end of a fight which took place over 8 two-minute rounds. This format was designed to preserve the former boxing star. The gloves of the two protagonists had also been padded.

Until then, we can understand that the environment has been somewhat adapted so that Netflix subscribers and the 72,000 spectators present at AT&T Stadium in Arlington (a suburb of Dallas in Texas) can find what they are looking for.

Well, that wasn’t enough. Jake Paul and Mike Tyson delivered a boxing parody. Here are the figures that prove it.

At 58 years old, the former undisputed heavyweight world champion only made an impression for thirty seconds before running out of steam. During the 16 minutes of combat, he only hit his opponent 18 times, an average of 2.25 hits per round. And no really significant strike to destabilize Paul the YouTuber, who has been boxing for four years and who is training for it.

In all, Tyson only attempted 97 attacks, meaning his punches only landed on target 18 percent of the time.

As for Jake Paul, who still made his illustrious opponent 31 years old, the statistics are also difficult to see. He certainly attempted 278 attacks, but only succeeded in 78, a rate of 28%. What’s dramatic is that Tyson barely moved. He was stuck on his legs without much possibility of moving.

One last figure: during the 5th round, the two opponents only exchanged four punches.
