On July 24, the Regulatory Authority for Audiovisual and Digital Communication (Arcom) took the decision not to renew the DTT frequencies of C8 (just like those of NRJ12 and of And the Mediaeditor’s note). The group channel Canal+often at the heart of controversy because of certain sequences taking place in TPMPis also targeted for its debts and its repeated fines, amounting to 7.6 million euros in eight years. So, C8 will close its doors on February 28, 2025 to make way for another chain. There is still hope for the channel, which is defending itself before the Council of State this Friday, November 15.
Anne Nivat agrees with the closure of C8
Invited on the set of Buzz TV Thursday, Anne Nivat was questioned about the upcoming closure of C8. The presenter of LCI respects the decision of the Arcom: “We live in a country which is a democracy and in which there are laws. And the laws must be respected.“In passing, the journalist slipped a tackle on the group's chain Canal+ : “If certain channels have become outlaws, while being part of many of these channels, some of them, those which are constantly criticizing outlaws, well we must respect the law.“
Arcom's decision to delete certain channels is not without consequences for LCIsince the numbering of DTT channels will be modified, particularly with regard to continuous news channels. These should appear in a common block and follow each other (BFMTV in 15, CNews in 16 and FranceInfo et LCI to be defined). Something to delight Anne Nivat: “We have a particularity in France, we have four news channels. It's a lot. We have two which in the numbering follow each other and are relatively close to the start of the numbers then we have two others which are very far away, of which LCI is a part. I can't tell you that I won't be in favor of changing the numbering. Obviously I am in favor of changing this numbering. It would make sense for there to be a block where the four chains follow each other.“
