SENEGAL-PILGRIMAGE-TRANSPORT / Hajj: arrival of a first flight of 285 pilgrims from Mecca – Senegalese press agency

Diass, June 22 (APS) – The Minister of Infrastructure, Land and Air Transport El hadji Malick Ndiaye welcomed, Saturday morning at the Blaise Diagne International Airport in Diass (AIBD), a first flight of 285 Senegalese pilgrims, from holy places of Islam, on board an Air Senegal aircraft, noted the APS.

“We have come to bring support, welcome but above all prayers from the President of the Republic and to show you all our gratitude,” said El hadj Malick Ndiaye.

Noting that “many difficulties” were noted in the organization of past editions of the Hajj, the official promised an “exhaustive” assessment of the 2024 Muslim pilgrimage.

This will allow its services to get to work “right now”, to prepare for the next edition.

A health system has been put in place to welcome pilgrims to the AIBD, assures the Director General of Health, Doctor Barnabé Gningue.

He pointed out the existence of “three levels of prevention”.

“We have a laboratory installed at the airport, to immediately detect all pilgrims who have fever, joint or muscle pain, headaches or even respiratory signs,” he said.

It recommends an observation period of 15 days to all pilgrims, upon arriving home, and in case of detection of symptoms of any illness, to go to the nearest health structure.

“The objective is to allow sick pilgrims to be able to seek treatment quickly in the best conditions without contaminating their family or neighbors,” explained Barnabé Gningue.
