The residents of the buildings on avenue Ruchonnet, in Lausanne (VD), are angry. And for good reason: after Place du Château then Place Centrale, the Bô Noël Ferris wheel was built this year, under their noses, on the south side! Indeed, the gigantic 34-meter metal attraction rests on the side of Platform 10, near the station. As a result, the pods pass a few meters from the windows of the tenants, who are not really happy, as “24 Heures” explains.
In other words, no more intimacy at home. And no winter aperitifs on the balcony or a beautiful view of the sunset on the horizon for a while. Hello noise and lights. After having endured the concrete heat sink that is Platform 10 throughout the summer, it’s time for the Bô Noël Ferris wheel, from November 20 to December 31. And all this, without the City of Lausanne having consulted or, at least, warned the local residents, according to our colleagues.
“Who came up with this absurd idea? (…) There are enough open spaces in Lausanne, far from homes, like in the middle of the Montbenon park or the Place de Milan, asks one of the many furious tenants, Alexandre Herkommer, in “24 hours”. I no longer feel at home. I experience it as a real intrusion into my bedroom, into my kitchen, into my dining room (…) And then, there will be all these flashing lights and background music until late.”
Alexandre Herkommer, who appealed to the Lausanne authorities without success, plans to display a banner to express his anger. He also launched an online petition.
