Imprints of artists: The printmaking museum workshop at the Marsam gallery

The Marsam Casablanca gallery presents, from November 21, 2024 to January 4, 2025, the exhibition “The print museum workshop – Artist’s prints”, initiated by the Chraïbi Abderrazik Foundation and the Marsam Gallery, in collaboration with the Foundation AL MADA.

This exhibition brings together works created by a collective of artists during residencies at the Villas des Arts in Casablanca and Rabat in 2024, where they explored and deepened printmaking techniques. Between tradition and innovation, artists have merged ancient methods and contemporary approaches, producing prints which bear witness to an exchange between the artist and the medium, imbued with singularity and universality.

The project also allowed students from the Casablanca School of Fine Arts to learn about linocutting through masterclasses supervised by master printers. The exhibition invites the public to discover works where each print, whether in lithography, screen printing or contemporary engraving, reveals a unique story, offering an overview of the subtleties of prints as contemporary .

At the same time, the exhibition presents a selection of prints from the MARSAM Graphic Art Workshop, produced over the last 50 years, foreshadowing the creation of a future print museum in Casablanca. Among the artists exhibited: Nabil Bahya, Noureddine Belhaj, Mustapha Belkouch, Driss Benwahoud, and many others.

The master printers who contributed to this artistic adventure include Mustapha Belkouch in engraving, Brahim Hanine and Noureddine Fathy in screen printing, Asmaa El Hairech and Frederique Possot in lithography, as well as Chafik Zougari in linocutting.
