It was with a lot, really a lot, of embarrassment that Mattel admitted a printing error on the boxes of its new dolls inspired by the musical film Wickedstarring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo. Instead of redirecting to the film's official website, the link printed on the packaging led to an adult site, wrote several American media including ABC News and the New York Post.
Many customers reported the incident on social media, and Lego YouTube creator Sarah Genao confirmed the error after checking it out at a Target store. “At first I thought it was really funny, but I was also concerned because it had gone unnoticed,” she told ABC News, adding that the dolls had been on sale for several weeks.
Mattel's flat apologies
In a statement, Mattel apologized for what the American company called a “misprint” and assured it was taking “immediate steps to remedy it.” The company added: “Parents are cautioned that the incorrect website stated on the packaging is not suitable for children. »
