An ephemeral hike to follow in the footsteps of the filming of the film “Louise Violet”

On the occasion of the national release of the film “Louise Violet” by Eric Besnard with Grégory Gadebois and Alexandra Lamy, follow this route on foot to discover the emblematic locations of the filming in Tiranges and Saint-André-de-Chalencon .

1889. Sent to a village in the French countryside, the teacher Louise Violet must impose the Republic school there (free, compulsory and secular). A mission that makes it popular neither with children… nor with parents.

Ephemeral route – for good walkers

A large part of the route follows small paved country roads. The 19 km route is made for 6 hours of walking with more than 400 m of elevation gain

The main sites

Departure from Tiranges

The town hosted the film's technical teams, as well as the actors, for several months.

Chalencon

Join the medieval village of Chalencon where scenes from “the new school” were filmed. We can also see in the film the alleys but also the chapel, the castle of the village of Chalencon.

Devil's Bridge

Take a cove to reach the Devil's Bridge where the scene of the washerwomen on the banks of the Ance was filmed.

The tree

Direction Cherchebrot, then the Grange du Fieu in Tiranges, continue towards the North and see the “boule tree” on your left, about 100 m from the road, scenes of the arrival of Louise Violet, then the open-air school .

The Cerces farm

Direction the place called Cerces, to reach the old farm, place of residence of the mayor in the film, and the teacher. It is also here that the scenes from the first school will be filmed.
