On the eleventh day of the electoral campaign in Senegal, the candidates and their coalitions are redoubling their efforts to rally voters, despite a temporary drop in pace due to the suspension of certain caravans. Mobilization has resumed with force, combining demonstrations of popularity and proximity approaches to attract the electorate.
A highlight of this day was the example of fair play given by the activists of PASTEF and Bess Du Niakk during their respective meetings in Yarack Hann. The two parties rubbed shoulders in good harmony, exchanging flyers and specimens while dancing and singing together. This exemplary attitude illustrates the possibility of calm and respectful electoral competition, even between political adversaries.
The PASTEF caravan, led by Ousmane Sonko, continues its advance in the north of the country. After stops in Agnam, Oré Fondé and Mbolo Birane, the caravan heads towards Saint-Louis, with a stop in Taredji to commune with activists and sympathizers. The main meeting of the day is expected in Saint-Louis, where Sonko hopes to galvanize more supporters for his cause.
The Jàmm Ak Njariñ coalition, led by Amadou Ba, enjoyed an enthusiastic welcome in Passy. This eleventh day of the campaign was an opportunity for Amadou Ba and his supporters to present their vision of peace and prosperity, advocating unity for a promising Senegal. The engagement of voters present demonstrates growing support for this coalition.
The Republican coalition Samm Sunu Rew Jotali Kadou Askan Wi, under the leadership of Pape Modou Fall, devoted this day to courtesy visits to Mouride and Baye Fall marabouts. In Keury Kaw, the coalition reaffirmed its commitment to representing the populations and working for their well-being. In Diamniadio, Modou Fall also sought spiritual support from religious leaders, hoping for success in the November 17 elections.
The other coalitions continue their tours across the country. The Dekkal Téranga coalition, led by Abdoulaye Niane, has increased visits to the regions of Gossas, Kaolack, Nioro, Porokhane and Sédhiou. The Buntu Bi Citizens’ Union met Caliph Thierno Amadou Dème in Sokone, while the RV Naataangue coalition continues to mobilize in Sinthiou Bamambé, with stages in Banadji, Ogo, Ourossidy and Kanel.
Several coalitions, such as DEFAR SA GOKH, DUNDE with Madana Kane, and Farlu, favor a local approach, mingling with the population and sharing moments of conviviality with voters. The Wareef coalition, with Amadou Ly Akylee, travels through the Casamance region, meeting the expectations of local populations. And Bessal Senegal, represented by Abdoulaye Sylla, started her day in Sokone before going to Karang, on the Senegambian border.
This eleventh day of the campaign highlighted the energy and diversity of the approaches of each coalition, between major mobilizations, local visits and management of links with religious authorities. The example of fair play between PASTEF and Bess Du Niakk could inspire a peaceful climate for the rest of the campaign. With the election approaching, voter engagement is only strengthening, creating an intense and determined electoral atmosphere across the country.
