He was a CEGEP teacher, radio host, a bit of a rapper, but above all a rocker poet. Lucien Francoeur has joined his idol Jim Morrison in the paradise of counterculture icons. He died Tuesday at age 76.

The news was confirmed at The Press by his daughter, Virginie Francoeur. Lucien Francoeur had been hospitalized since he suffered a heart attack two weeks ago, said his friend Alan Lord.
Lucien Francoeur, born in Montreal on September 9, 1948, came to rock through poetry. Mini brixes reactedthe first of his many collections, was published by l’Hexagone in 1972. He cultivates a rebellious, urban and modern imagery, which is reflected in titles like The tired neon lights, The hallowed rockers or Perfect night.
Ce bum self-proclaimed also shook up Quebec music at the same time by founding Aut’Chose with Pierre-André Gauthier. Three albums were released in quick succession in 1975 and 1976: Take a chance with moé, A night like any other et American Nightmare.
Last year, his daughter Virginie dedicated a film to him entitled Frankly, we finish off the rockers well.
