Israel continues to bomb parts of Lebanon from the air, while its troops continue their raids in the south of the country.

The Lebanese militant group Hezbollah launched 10 rockets towards Israel on Wednesday.

A fragment of a rocket launched by Hezbollah crashed into a parked car in the central Israeli town of Ra’anana. Missiles also struck an area near Israel’s main airport, without disrupting air traffic, Israeli media report.

Israelis take to the streets after Yoav Gallant’s dismissal

On Tuesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu fired his Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and replaced him with loyalist Israel Katz.

For some observers, this replacement is a sign that the Israeli leader intends to pursue his military objectiveswhile Yoav Gallant defended the idea that military force was a precondition for a ceasefire.

Benjamin Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant have repeatedly clashed over the Gaza war, but the prime minister waited until Tuesday’s US presidential election to fire his rival.

This announcement gave rise to protests across the country, demonstrators demanding a ceasefire agreement that would free the last Israeli hostages held in Gaza by Hamas.

So far, all ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas have fizzled, with the two sides failing to agree on the preconditions for establishing a temporary peace in the region.

The previous ceasefire agreement was defended by the Joe Biden administration, which will be replaced by Donald Trump at the White House following Tuesday’s US presidential election.
