In the capital Washington, there are several universities. The Howard, where Kamala Harris will be held, and also (notably) that of Georgetown, whose emblem you must have seen once in your life, the famous bulldog.
Obviously, in the area, we are very interested in the election this Tuesday. So that students experience the day as close as possible to current events, the Institute of Politics and Public Service has organized everything down to the minute.
Starting at 9 a.m. this morning, there was a bipartisan luncheon. Afterwards, an hour of yoga called “calm during the storm”. Then comes a conference on Asian Americans, then a course on “how the financial markets will react to the outcome of the election.” And it continues in the afternoon, with games, chess games, another lesson on “the international implications of the US elections” and a discussion group. Each workshop is of course sponsored by a private person.
At 5 p.m., the students will walk together towards the polling station and when they have done their duty as voters, it’s time for a quiz on the elections and a distribution of badges. Then, at 7 p.m., go to the “Great Room” for a “Campus wide election watch party”. A hell of a program!
