This is one of the decisions that risks causing debate within the Senegalese political world. Madia Diop Sané, former head of the list of the “Gox yu bess” coalition, surprised everyone by throwing in the towel and joining Ousmane Sonko’s Pastef.
Madia Diop Sané has decided to end her engagement with “Gox yu bess” after weeks of frustration. “ No technical means, no financing, no coordination. It was a lack of consideration,” he said, explaining his choice. After a consultation with his base, the young activist turned his back on his coalition to concentrate his efforts on the victory of Guy Marius Sagna and Oulimata Sidibé, Pastef candidates.

For him, this support for Pastef is a return to his roots. “ Our ideals are similar. My students often told me that Sonko and I had the same struggle. I started since 2007 and, today, I want to contribute to the overwhelming victory of Pastef on November 17, 2024,” he confides.
This choice reinforces the impact of the Citizen Vision movement, which Sané coordinates and which has been active in all the major battles for democracy in Senegal. For him, supporting Pastef means defending the future of the country and its democratic values.
