The trial for the assassination of Samuel Paty opened Monday, November 4, in pain for Mickaëlle Paty, the teacher's sister, and their loved ones.
Mickaëlle Paty would never have imagined that she would one day go to court to defend the memory of her brother, Samuel, murdered by a terrorist in 2020. “It’s him I’m thinking of and it’s also the suffering of the 5 minutes of the attack”she confided, Monday November 4, to the France Télévisions teams.
Mickaëlle Paty is determined to face the accused, just like her sister, who also came to the hearing with her family Monday morning.
In the box, eight defendants are suspected of having stoked hatred of Abdoulakh Anzorov, the terrorist killed by the police. Among them, the father of a student, who relayed, in a video published on the internet, the lies told by his daughter. A radicalized preacher also denounced the professor in a video.
Samuel Paty's mother, his sisters and his ex-wife will take the stand on Friday, November 8.
