The LD Debout Political Bureau met on Saturday November 2, 2024 around a single point on its agenda: “Party position for the legislative elections of November 17, 2024”. During this meeting the political office recalled the decision of the National Executive Secretariat of the party confirming the departure of the LD Debout from the Sam Sa Kaddu coalition, following the creation of an inter-coalition with the Takku Wallu coalition led by former president Macky Sall.
The political bureau welcomed the decision of the National Executive Secretariat to refuse an association of the party with the former regime and expressed their different opinions on the party’s options relating to these elections. At the end of the debates, the majority position is that LD Debout adopts a position of neutrality while remaining vigilant and committed to the holding of a free, democratic, transparent and peaceful election.
For the Political Bureau, the lack of visibility on the intentions of the current regime, particularly on the fundamental reforms necessary for the consolidation of democracy, the rule of law and good governance, does not allow the party to provide its support. support. At the same time, the Political Bureau considers that the most significant fringes of the current opposition have organized themselves on retrograde bases which can in no way ensure this necessary national rebuilding.
With this in mind, the Political Bureau, through this decision of unusual neutrality for the party, affirms “the party’s strategic option to work on building a true third way. This third way must therefore be built with political and citizen forces truly convinced of the need to apply the conclusions of the National Conference and the recommendations of the NCRI. informs a press release received in Senego.
“This alternative path remains open to all Senegalese who aspire to another way of doing politics, that of the confrontation of ideas and social projects, instead of invective and scenes of violence, for a new method of doing politics, which has at heart the general interest of Senegal and the Senegalese, and no longer the clashes of personal ambitions or partisan interests”, they explained.
In this regard, the press release continues, the Political Bureau invites the National Executive Secretariat to finalize as soon as possible the strategic plan for the project of building a new major unifying party capable of bringing this “third way alternative” to triumph. “.
