An 80-year-old Swiss man dies in Sierre, his wife injured
An octogenarian was found unresponsive on Sunday in a family context in Valais. A man was arrested.

An 80-year-old Swiss man was discovered lifeless on Sunday in an apartment in Sierre (VS), Valais police said.
Alerted shortly after 4 p.m., the Valais cantonal police went to the scene and discovered an inanimate man as well as a seriously injured woman.
The SMUR doctor immediately called to the scene could only note the death of the victim. The deceased’s wife, aged 77, was taken into care.
Following this tragedy which took place in a family context, a 59-year-old Swiss man was arrested and placed in detention on the orders of the Public Prosecutor’s Office who opened an investigation. The investigation into the exact course of events is still ongoing. The use of a firearm is ruled out by law enforcement in this case.
The presumption of innocence is maintained until a final conviction is pronounced.
